Percutaneous Electrolysis Therapy EPTE
EPTE: Percutaneous Electrolysis Therapy
What is EPTE?
EPTE is the most innovative technique developed in Spain, which has been successfully used for chronic tendonitis for 10 years now.Our therapist Wibbo from FysioEchografie Mobiel is the first certified EPTE user in the region Haarlem, Hoofddorp and Amsterdam.
With ultrasound, the exact location of the tendon complaints and their severity is determined. At the site of inflammation or in the overloaded area, a thin needle is inserted through the house (percutaneously), also with the aid of ultrasound. It conducts current in the core of the problem area for about two minutes. The low intensity galvanic current triggers a number of physiological processes that lead to the production of new tendon tissue. This improves blood circulation and changes the PH value from acid to neutral.
When is EPTE applied?
EPTE is used in chronic tendonitis that reacts poorly to existing therapies. Tendons are sensitive to overload and recover more slowly than, for example, muscles. EPTE can be used in the following conditions:
- Tennis elbow
- Fasciitis plantaris
- Shoulder complaints
- Achilles pain
Who is it for and what can you expect?
People who have long-standing tendon complaints can go to Fysio.com for Shockwave therapy. Wibbo, our physiotherapist who specializes in this, will first of all make an ultrasound after a short intake and examination to show the complaint. Following this, if there is an indication, EPTE will be applied. The session lasts a total of 20 minutes.
At Fysio.com, Wibbo Hummelen works every Friday. Wibbo specializes in EPTE and has his own company called FysioEchografie Mobiel. EPTE falls under a normal physiotherapy session and is reimbursed by your health insurer provided you have an additional package.
