Ultrasound imaging

With Ultrasound Imaging we are able to scan a body part to see if there are any soft tissue injuries or overuse damages. It means we get a clear picture of muscles, tendons and ligaments, joints, sometimes even bones. Thanks to Ultrasound Imaging we are able to detect certain injuries faster than with regular assessment; which again results in faster therapy results.

When do we chose for Ultrasound Imaging?

During each intake session, we try to find the cause of the pain or discomfort that you experience. If it seems that there is e.g.  a structural problem as irritation or overuse of tendons or muscles, we can use Ultrasound Imaging to immediately confirm this first conclusion. It helps us to rule out assumptions of eventual tissue damage, since we are able to see an overuse or injury directly on the screen.

Advantages of Ultrasound Imaging vs X-Rays:

  • during a scan movement is possible. This gives us the huge advantage of analysing a structure in a three dimensional way, so no “hidden” structures are missed
  • no ionisation is happening
  • it is very comfortable for the patient since it does not take long and the patient can see the imaging directly on the screen of the laptop

Who is suited for Ultrasound Imaging and what can you expect?

Everyone is suitable for Ultrasound Imaging. The physiotherapist will decide if it is necessary to make a scan. If the therapist sees an alteration in the scanned body part, the therapist will contact the general practitioner.
